Abstract: NETFINITY 5500: RS485 CONNECTION CANNOT BE ESTABLISHED


TEXT:

Netfinity 5500: RS485 connection cannot be established


SYMPTOMS:

RS485 connection cannot be established on Netfinity 5500 server models (except 5xU, 6xU).


PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:



a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model.
a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model.
a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, ONLY Models 5xU or 6xU.


FIX:

None (except M/T 8660-5xU and 8660-6xU).

If attempting to use the Advanced Systems Management PCI Interconnect RS485 Feature on
Netfinity 5500 models, please note the following:

It is NOT UPPORTED on all 8660's! Only models 5xU and 6xU on the Netfinity 5500 are supported!

DETAILS:

The Netfinity Advanced Systems Management PCI Adapter, FRU P/N 07L5496 and Netfinity Advanced Systems Management
Interconnect RS485 Cable Kit, FRU P/N 03K9309 installations are supported on the following Netfinity servers:

CD-ROMs containing Netfinity Manager 5.20.4 and firmware to update the Advanced Systems Management Processor integrated on the Netfinity 5000, Netfinity 5500, Netfinity 5500 M10 and the Netfinity Advanced Systems Management PCI Adapter, FRU P/N 07L5496, standard on the Netfinity 7000 M10, is included with the Netfinity Advanced Systems Management PCI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7209 and Netfinity Advanced Systems Management Interconnect Cable Kit, Option P/N 03K9309 options.
