Abstract: RESOURCE CONFLICTS W/ SHARED IRQ'S RUNNING OS/2 WARP SERVER

SYMPTOM:

Resource conflicts may result in (and are not limited to) any of the following symptoms:

•  OS/2 Traps
•  OS/2 fails to install
•  Drivers fail loading
•  Server fails to service clients under high LAN and/or Hard Drive activity.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  The system is any of the following IBM servers:

          a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.
          a Netfinity 7000 server, Type 8651, any Model.
          a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model.
          a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model.
          a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model.
          a Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any Model.
          a Netfinity 3500 server, Type 8644, any Model.
          a Netfinity 3000 server, Type 8476, any Model.
          a Netfinity 1000 server, Type 8477, any Model.
          a PC Server 720, Type 8642, any Model.
          a PC Server 704, Type 8650, any Model.
          a PC Server 520, Type 8641, any Model.
          a PC Server 330, Type 8640, any Model.
          a PC Server 325, Type 8639, any Model.
          a PC Server 320, Type 8640, any Model.
          a PC Server 315, Type 8638, any Model.
          a PC Server 310, Type 8639, any Model.
   

•  The system is configured with the following option(s):

    Any SCSI/RAID adapter (including on-board SCSI/RAID) and any LAN adapter (including on-board LAN adapters).

•  NOS affected:

    OS/2 version 4.0 with any level of fix-pack

FIX:

The server BIOS may auto assign interrupts to adapters.
Manually configure the interrupts such that interrupts are NOT shared between SCSI/RAID adapters (including on-board SCSI/RAID) and LAN adapters with OS/2 Warp Server SMP v4.0.
