TEXT:

Difference between 2 VRMs made by different vendors.

OVERVIEW:

A Voltage Regulation Module (VRM) is shipped with the processor upgrade option.
Two different versions of the VRM are available.
One of the versions may rest on a component on the system board.

They are interchangeable - both are fully tested & warranted.

DETAIL:

There are two versions of this VRM - both fully tested, certified, and with full warranty. They are, however, produced by different suppliers, Semtech Corp. and VXI Electronics, and have different physical appearances due to different locations of heat sinks and other components.

The original VRM (Semtech Corp.), was labeled FRU P/N 01K7113.
The current VRM (VXI Electronics), is labeled FRU P/N 01K7112.

When the VXI version is installed, it rests on component L21 mounted on the system board.
This causes no problems.
There is no thermal or electrical impact, and the VRM can be fully seated while contacting L21.

Again, this VRM is fully tested and fully warranted.

NOTE: To receive the current version, customer can still order FRU P/N 01K7113.
