Abstract: FALSE ERROR MESSAGE when RESTARTING SERVICE PROCESSOR

TEXT:

False error message when restarting service processor.

SYMPTOMS:

When a user presses the Restart button under the Network Settings window in the Configuration Settings window in the Advanced System Management service in Netfinity Manager to restart the service processor, sometimes an error message box will pop-up that says there was a command time-out. It occurs much more frequently in OS/2 than Windows NT.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

WORKAROUND:

Go into the Network Driver Configuration program which comes with Netfinity Manager and change the Network Time-Out from 15 to 30 seconds.

DETAILS:

Rarely occurs under Windows NT, changing time-out value gives service processor more time to respond, the restarting actually succeeds so it is a false error message.
