Abstract: ECA014: NETFINITY 7000 POWER CORD/RECEPTACLE COMPATIBILITY

PURPOSE:

This ECA provides for the removal of a 220 Volt/16 Amp AC Power Assembly, 220 Volt/16 Amp Line Cord, and the installation of a 220 Volt/10 Amp AC Power Assembly and country specific 220 Volt/10 Amp Line Cord on the IBM Netfinity 7000 type 8651 model TH0/TM0 to allow for supplying AC power to the server using the more common 220 Volt/10 Amp wall receptacle specific to some countries.

One (1) 220 Volt/10 Amp AC Power Assembly, one (1) 220 Volt/10 Amp Line Cord, and Instruction Sheet are contained in the following FBM Kits respective to the countries that this ECA applies to:

PHYSICAL CHECK:

•  This ECA applies to servers located in or will be located in one of the following countries only:  China / Australia / New Zealand / Argentina / Papua New Guinea /  Italy / Chile / Ethiopia / Libya / Somalia / Denmark / Switzerland /  Liechtenstein
•  The customer requires that the Server is powered with a  standard 220 Volt/10 amp Line Cord typical to the country.
•  The Server has the Ship-level 220 Volt/16 Amp Power Assembly
   (the 220 Volt/16 Amp Power Assembly has a 220 Volt/16 Amp AC power connector located at the back).
•  The Server is NOT in a IBM Server Rack.

DETAIL:

This ECA replaces the Server's 220 Volt/16 Amp Power Assembly (FRU P/N 12J3264) with a 220 Volt/10 Amp AC Power Assembly (FRU P/N 03K8966) to allow use of the more common 220 Volt/10 Amp Power Cord specific to the counties specified in this ECA that may only have a 220 Volt/10 Amp wall receptacle.

1.  Have the Local Administrator Down the Network Operating system.
2.  Power down the Server.

   Note: Refer to the Instruction Sheet that was packed
     in the FBM Kit or, Refer to the Hardware Maintenance
     Manual for the Netfinity 7000; the "AC Power Assembly"
     section describes the following steps in detail:

3.  Remove the Hot-Swap Power Supplies.
4.  Remove the 5-Volt Regulator Card.
5.  Remove the 16 Amp AC Power Assembly.
6.  Install the 10 Amp AC Power Assembly.
7.  Install the 5-Volt Regulator Card.
8.  Install the Hot-Swap Power Supplies.
9.  Power on the Server, check the Server's Power Supply Status
    Indicators to be sure that all the Hot-Swap Power supplies
    are operating correctly (refer to the Hardware Maintenance
    Manual for the Netfinity 7000, see the "Status Indicators"
    section).

WHEN IMPLEMENTING THIS ECA:

Country Specific FBM kits must be ordered using
Code B and reference ECA014 (Any orders for the FBM
kits under normal FBM replacement parts will be rejected).

Discard the 16 AMP Power Assembly and 16 Amp Cord.

USA:

This ECA does not apply to any servers in the USA or any
other country in North America, due to the Electrical
Standards used.
