Abstract: FAILOVER OF DRIVE RESOURCES MAY FAIL IN CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT
SYMPTOM:
The following error message is displayed when running IPSHAHTO program on a Node:
-Warning- CONFIG_SYNC with 0xA0 command FAILED on adapter#"
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is any IBM server certified for MSCS and ServeRAID II or 3H.
Note: Currently shipping configurations are listed at the following URL:

Listed below are the shipping and non-shipping systems certified for MSCS:
- PC Server 325 server, Type 8639, Models: Pxx, RB0, 1RY or 2RY.
- PC Server 330 server, Type 8640, Models: Pxx, 11Y, or 21Y.
- PC Server 704 server, Type 8650, any Model.
- Netfinity 3500 server, Type 8644, any Model.
- Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any Model.
- Netfinity 5500-M10 server, Type 8661, any Model.
- Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any Model.
- Netfinity 7000-M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.
- Netfinity 7000 server, Type 8651, any Model.
- The system is configured with one of the following ServeRAID options:
a ServeRAID II Ultra SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 76H3584
a ServeRAID-3H Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7207
- The system is configured with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise, with any level Service Pack applied.
- The Systems are running Microsoft Cluster Server version 1.0
- One or more HSP/SHS devices are defined on adapter pairs
----- OR -----
READY (RDY) devices are not part of any logical array configuration on a adapter pair in a cluster.
FIX:
- Apply the following updates:
- IBM ServeRAID BIOS and Firmware Diskette, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Device Drivers, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Administration and Monitoring Program Diskette, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Cluster Solution for Windows NT Diskette, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Command Line Program Diskette, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Manager Windows Diskette, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- IBM ServeRAID Option CD, Version 3.50,
(Microsoft Certification Pending)
- Create or recreate all HSP drive(s) using new Windows NT GUI ServeRAID Manager 3.50.
This process will remove all stale data from the HSP drives.
And remove all RDY drives from all shared channels.

DETAIL:
Hot-Spare / Standby Hot-Spare (HSP / SHS) devices must be defined only on a Shared Channel,
and HSP / SHS devices must be defined by the Adapter / Controller and NOT defined on Adapter Pairs.
