Abstract: NETFINITY 3000: SERVERAID 3X ONLY SUPPORTED IN PCI SLOT-3

TEXT:

Netfinity 1000/3000: Mechanical fit concerns with ServeRAID.

SYMPTOMS:

•  Due to mechanical fit concerns, only a single ServeRAID-3H Ultra SCSI Adapter or a single ServeRAID-3L  Ultra SCSI Adapter that is installed in PCI slot-3 is supported in a Netfinity 3000 server or Netfinity 1000 server.
•  Any controller installed in PCI slot-3, will become the boot device.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  The system is any of the following IBM servers:

    a Netfinity 3000 server, Type 8476, any Model.
    a Netfinity 1000 server, Type 8477, any Model.

•  The system is configured with one of the following:

    a Netfinity ServeRAID-3H Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7207, FRU P/N 01K7396.
    a Netfinity ServeRAID-3L Ultra2 SCSI Adapter, Option P/N 01K7364, FRU P/N 01K7352.

•  The system has the described symptom.

FIX:

1.  Remove the Adaptec Controller from slot-3.
2.  Install the desired ServeRAID Controller into slot-3.
