Abstract: PLANAR BOARDS / I/O PLANARS: NOT REPLACED PROPERLY
TEXT:
The following steps need to be added to the procedure currently used to replace a
System Planar Board / I/O Planar (8680 Only):
- Servicer should save the customer's configuration if possible or ask the customer if he has saved the configuration.
- The servicer should Flash the system's latest BIOS or match the BIOS level currently in use by the customer.
If the customer requires a BIOS level lower than the latest level, then it is the customer's responsibility to provide the correct BIOS level.
- For a PC Server 310, 315 or a Netfinity 1000, 3000 or 3500 during the Flash when the servicer is asked if the machine
type and serial number information needs updating, the answer is YES. The servicer should then manually enter this
information for the system to function properly. There are applications which rely on this VPD information being correct.
For all other servers VPD data should be edited by selecting F1 Setup during bootup.
