Abstract: Netfinity 3500: Correct ADAPTEC DRIVERS in Serverguide 4.02+
SYMPTOM:
The System may experience one or more of the following (or similar) symptoms:
- Adaptec Driver does not load properly.
- The Onboard Adaptec Disk Subsystem Hangs.
- The PCI Bus(s) Hangs.
- General DASD error(s).
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
All of the following must be true for this TIP to apply:
- The System is any model Netfinity 3500 server Type 8644.
- Any supported Network Operating System is (or has been)
installed onto the System using ServerGuide version 4.0.2 thru 4.0.4
- The System experiences one or more of the described Symptoms
listed above (or similar).
FIX:
Use the Adaptec Drivers from a diskette created with the
Diskette factory Utility in Serverguide 4.0.2 thru 4.0.4.
Create the Diskette as follows:
- Boot to the Serverguide SoftwareGuide CD (CD#2)
- Select a preferred Language.
- Select "Diskette Factory"
- Select "Other Servers"
- Select "Netfinity 3500"
- Select "7800 family manager diskette 1 of 2"
The System will prompt for a diskette to copy the Adaptec Drivers to.
- Apply the Drivers from this diskette to the Network Operating System.
DETAILS:
ServerGuide 4.0.2 thru 4.0.4 contains several versions
of Adaptec Drivers. The Onboard Adaptec Controller in the
Netfinity 3500 server requires the latest drivers contained
in ServerGuide versions 4.0.2 thru 4.0.4 which are only located
in the Diskette Factory Utility.
