Abstract: SYSTEM HANGs with NT 4.0 SP3 in SMP MODE and TCP/IP

SYMPTOM:

The System Hangs evident by the following:

The Mouse cursor cannot be moved on the screen
The NumLock, CapsLock, and ScrollLock lights on the keyboard cannot be illuminated by pressing their respective keys.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

All of the following must be true for this TIP to apply:

The System is any PC Server / Netfinity server that supports and is properly configured with ALL of the following:
- SMP (Symetrical Multi Processor)
- Windows NT 4.0 Server SP3 Enterprise Edition / Non Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft TCP/IP
