ECA 031 - 8580-111/311 + Busmaster
Compatibility with "wizard" and Busmaster adapters
PURPOSE:
To make available a current level system board for
8580 models 111 + 311 which are using the ps/2 wizard
adapter or other Busmaster adapters.
NOTE: The IBM SCSI adapter with cache memory and SCSI
adapter without cache memory are "Busmaster".
This ECA is not applicable to 8580 models 041 + 071.
PHYSICAL check:
Inspect the installed system board for a FRU part number.
The FRU number is located near the lower rear corner of the
system board and will be printed in white letters or on a white
label. Removal of adapters may be necessary to locate the FRU
part number.
This ECA is only applicable to 8580 models 111 and 311 which
have FRU P/N 90X7390, or those model 111 + 311 systems where
the installed system board FRU part number cannot be determined.
This ECA is not applicable to 8580 models 111 + 311 which have
system board FRU P/N 33F8415 installed.
(FRU P/N 33F8415 was previously released with ECA:011).
DETAIL:
If 110 parity errors are experienced when using a Busmaster
adapter card such as the IBM "wizard" adapter and the
system board FRU part number is applicable for this ECA:, as
described in the physical check, replace the system board
with the currently available system board FRU.
If the system board FRU part number does not apply to this
ECA:, as defined by the physical check, and problems are
being experienced with a Busmaster adapter, use normal problem
determination procedures for problem resolution.
Marketing literature refers to EC C00835 as being required on
8580 systems using the wizard adapter. This EC has been
incorporated on all system boards except FRU P/N 90X7390, which
was the initial system board for 8580 models 111 + 311.
