ECA 029 - 8570 - A61/A21 Busmaster
ECA 029 - 8570 - A61/A21 Busmaster
8570 A61 or A21 fails to operate w/ new Busmaster adapter
PURPOSE:
Replace the system board, P/N 15F7657, to correct a
compatibility problem with certain Busmaster adapters.
PHYSICAL check:
An 8570 25 MHz 386 system having a system board with a BAR code
label of B1HCHxxx or lower printed on it that contains a SCSI
hardfile adapter or other Busmaster adapter that has experienced
out of box failures.
To check the BAR code label look at the 5th letter from the
left. example B1HC( H )xxxx
|
|
the key letter is located here. "A" through "H" qualifies
the system board.
******** NOTE *******
Busmaster adapters usually contain a microprocessor and have the
capability of controlling data transfer on the microchannel
bus, independently of the system microprocessor. Due to
variations in design, visual identification of a Busmaster may
be difficult. In these cases referring to the adapter
documentation should help determine if the failing adapter is a
Busmaster adapter.
DETAIL:
Some 8570 model A61 or A21 systems require a later level system
board when operating with some Busmaster adapters. Busmaster
adapters that fail to operate properly after being installed
correctly require this ECA if they pass diagnostics and meet
the requirements of the ECA:'s physical check.
NOTEs:
Current FRU part stock is at the proper level. Order parts
through normal parts channels.
