Wide Area connector / diagnose error
PROBLEM - WIDE area connector (WAC) adapter card diagnostic error "wac 6595 card # has a bad
Zilog IUSC chip associated with link a (or b)" when 4 or more of the WAC adapters installed.
Machines AFFECTED - Valuepoint models 6384 with a 5 slot riser board.
SOLUTION -
With 4 or more WAC cards in the 5 by 5 slot system, the IO channel ready signal exceeds
the IBM at specification of 20 ns (from IOR/IOW active to IOCH ready inactive).
therefore, the 16 bit I/O cycle terminates prior to the WAC card completing the data
transfer.
The WAC card design team is looking at making changes to the adapter. no expected change
date has been set.
NOTE: - No problem has been found in the 6387
