3com 3c509 EtherLink adapter
PROBLEM - The 3com 3c509 EtherLink III adapter card may fail to initialize in a
PS/Valuepoint 6381/Si system if the adapter is installed in slots 2 or 3 of the riser card.
The adapter is not recognized by the 3com adapter diagnostics and communication
applications.
Token Ring adapter and other comms adapter errors are also possible.
Machines AFFECTED - All Valuepoint 6381 Si models
SOLUTION -
Try the adapter in slot 1 (closest to the system board), if this fails replace the riser card
with FRU P/N 8G4178.
