Token Ring IRQ2 / win-os/2
PROBLEM - When a Token Ring adapter is set to IRQ2, opening a WIN-OS/2 session
results in communication manager dropping its 3270 emulating session and generating an
ACS2387 error. The ACS2387 error indicates that there is a hardware failure with the
Token Ring adapter. The problem only occurs on level 54 BIOS and later.
Machines AFFECTED - Valuepoint 6382/S, 6384/D, and 6387/T systems.
SOLUTION - Opening the WIN-OS/2 session causes an S3 interrupt to be generated. The
same interrupt is generated when closing the session. The S3 interrupt is or'ed to IRQ2
on the ISA bus and causes a problem with the Token Ring adapter.the problem does not
occur on BIOS levels 53 or less because S3 interrupts are disabled in those levels. The
disabled interrupt caused another IRQ2 problem with Token Ring that caused a revision to
the BIOS to enable the interrupts.
SOLUTION - Install OS/2 2.1 CSD XR06200. This version of the CSD fixed the interrupt
problem.
