The IBM Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA, PCI or MC allows you to attach IBM Personal Computer systems, or IBM compatible computers
that meet ISA/EISA, PCI or MC standards, to a token-ring network.
The Auto 16/4 Adapter transmits and receives data
at a rate of either 4 or 16 Mbps over shielded twistet-pair (STP) or unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable.
The Auto 16/4 Adapter can be installed in either an 8-bit or 16-bit slot.
The ISA adapter is also compatible with industry-standard Plug and Play BIOS, configuration managers, and operating system functions.
Features of the Auto 16/4 ISA, PCI or MC Adapter include:
| Figure Cable or END | Description |
|---|---|
| A IBM Token-Ring RJ-45 STP Adapter cable |
IBM P/N 60G1063 |
| A1 Connector, adapter end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
| A2 Connector, network end | IBM Cabling System Data Connector |
| B IBM Token-Ring Network PC Adapter cable Token-Ring STP cable |
IBM P/N 6339098 |
| B1 Connector, adapter end | 9-position D, male |
| B2 Connector, network end | IBM Cabling System Data Connector |
| C IBM RJ-45 STP/D-Shell Conversion Cable |
IBM P/N 60G1066. Supplied for use with IBM Token-Ring Network PC Adapter cables. |
| C1 Connector, adapter end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
| C2 Connector, network end | 9-position D, female |
| D IBM RJ-45 UTP Cable with ferrite core |
IBM P/N 60G0659 |
| D1 Connector, adapter end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
| D2 Connector, network end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
| E Token-ring UTP cable two twisted pairs of UTP cabling |
For 4 Mbps token rings, EIA/TIA-568 category 3. For 16 Mbps token rings EIA/TIA-568 category 4. |
| E1 Connector, adapter end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
| E2 Connector, network end | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug or 6-position RJ-11 modular plug |
| F UTP RJ-45 Network Connector IBM P/N 42H4086 or equivalent |
For Networks using 100 ohm UTP Category 4/5 cabling, the UTP is required to meet CISPR22 Class B emission limits. The connector is not needed for CISPR22 Class A environments. |
| F1 Connector, adapter side | 8-position RJ-45 female plug |
| F2 Connector, network side | 8-position RJ-45 modular plug |
