Updating the System Diagnostic Programs

1.  Insert the IBM Netfinity 5500/5500 M10 Diagnostic Update Diskette  1 of 2  into the diskette drive.
2.  Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the server.  The system begins the power-on self-test (POST).
3.  A menu appears containing a number of selections.  Select Option 2 (Update Diagnostic) and press Enter.
4.  Select a language (0-7) from the list shown on the  next screen and press Enter to accept your choice.

    A message in your selected language similar to the  following appears.

    After this message appears, you will be prompted to insert the IBM Netfinity Diagnostic Update Diskette 2 of 2    into the diskette drive.

5.  Insert the diskette into the diskette drive and press Enter.  A message similar to the following appears.

    After this message, another message similar to the following appears.

     | The system diagnostic is being updated and it might|
     | take up to 5 minutes to complete. Do not power off |
     | or restart the system during this procedure.       |
     |                                                    |
     |                                                    |
     +----------------------------------------------------+
    

6.  When the update is complete, a message similar to the following appears,  however, do not press Enter to restart the system at this time.

     | Diagnostic Update Completed.                       |
     |                                                    |
     | Remove the diskette from the drive and press       |
     | Enter to restart the system.                       |
     |                                                    |
     |                                                    |
     +----------------------------------------------------+
    

    Remove the diskette from the diskette drive and turn off the server.  This completes the update of the software needed to install the  Processor Upgrade Kit.

    You will now install the hardware.
