Copy the files listed below and label the disk "Professional Workstation ECU R2.3". PC_UTIL.EXE INT3061.OVL !INT3061.CFG FLASH BIOS Upgrade Procedure 1. Copy the files listed below to a bootable DOS diskette. It is recommended that the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files be as simple as possible. FMUP.EXE will not work reliably if the system is in protected mode, make sure any memory manager such as HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.EXE, QEMM386, etc., is not installed. Read the file FMUP.TXT. FMUP.EXE -- FLASH Upgrade Utility, Ver. 2.2. FMUP.TXT -- Readme text file for FLASH upgrade utility. FLASH22.PCX -- FLASH upgrade utility banner screen. Reboot the system from the above floppy. 3. (Optional) To save the current BIOS files, follow these steps. Select "Save FLASH Memory Area to a File" from the Main Menu, then select "Save System BIOS". Choose a directory path and file name, then enter the header information. This will take a couple of minutes to complete. 4. From the Main Menu, select "Update FLASH Memory Area from a File", then select "Update System BIOS" from the next menu. Tab to the Files area and select the upgrade BIOS data file listed above. Once the re-programming is complete, you will be prompted hit to re-boot. Remove the floppy disk and push enter. The BIOS upgrade is now complete. An alternate method is to boot from the hard disk using CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files that do not load TSRs and memory managers, and accessing the FLASH upgrade files from the hard disk. This method will be much quicker than the floppy based method listed above. FLASH BIOS Recovery Procedure In the unlikely event the FLASH BIOS upgrade fails to complete, follow this recovery process. 1. Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord. Remove the chassis cover by loosening the retaining screw on the back of the system and sliding the top cover forward and lifting it up. 2. Move the FLASH recovery jumper from NORM to REC position. Consult the label on the inside of the chassis cover for the jumper location. 3. Replace the top cover and reconnect the power cord. 4. Insert the DOS bootable floppy containing the BIOS recovery files listed above. Turn on the system. 5. The monitor will not display any information. After a little while, a single beep will sound. This indicates the recovery process has started. A couple of minutes later, two beeps will sound. This indicates the recovery process has finished. 6. If a continuous string of beeps occurs, the recovery process has failed. Double check to be sure all of the recovery files listed above are located on the floppy. If the recovery process still fails, contact your system vendor for further assistance. 7. After the two beeps occur, remove the floppy diskette and turn off the system. Disconnect the power cord, remove the top cover, and return the jumper to the NORM position. 8. Replace the top cover, and reconnect the power cord. Turn the system on, check the BIOS version, and restart the BIOS installation process if required.
