Please note: Many of the BIOS
limitations listed below are on account of the current release being a very early
beta. These will be addressed/implemented in due course.
- Power management support is minimal
- No ACPI support
- No fan control
- No support for MIDI and Joystick ports
- No support DMI/SMBIOS
- No support for chassis intrusion security
- No support for user defined defaults in NVRAM
- ISA bridge support is incomplete
- Video BIOS is a beta version
- No wake up support except power button
- No alert on LAN
- ECP parallel port mode fails
- No legacy ISB support
- LAN BIOS is not final
- No support for keyboardless operation
- No support for system indicators
- Setup support limited to 4 PCI slots
- Some setup options have incrorrect help text
- Occaionally the F2 key is ignored and therefore no entry to setup
- No serial number support
- Rev A silicon video - video clarity problem
- Power LED doesnt work
- Audio works on boards loaded with Windows 98 OSR1 and latest audio drivers, but audio
drivers are "lost" on alternative reboots of Windows
- BIOS
During Typical installation the Setting up Hardware dialog box prompted for the following
file: Serialui.dll, this file could not be located on Win 95 CD or C:\Windows\System
directory. The file must be skipped for installation to continue.
- BIOS
Following initial installation of Win 95, the system prompts the user to Restart, this,
the system appears to do, but hangs. System was powered-down and restarted for
installation to continue. On Restart the system emits 4 short, distinct beeps, and a
Multi-coloured pixel screen.

ECP Printer Port Properties - Not present, not working properly or insufficient drivers.
O/S cannot determine which resources the device is using - possible conflict.
Comment: BIOS - Advanced\IO Device Configuration\Modes: ECP by default, changing setting
to EPP clears the conflict in the O/S Device Manager?
- BIOS
F10 invoked (Exit and Save changes) - Changing (or not changing) setting in BIOS hangs the
system, must be powered-down and restarted. Port 80 Card returns a value of 38.

It was noted on examination of BIOS that the O/S setting had changed from Win 95 to
Other.
- BIOS/PWR MAN
Not yet fully functional.

Green LED light remains on when system is shutdown.
- VIDEO
Device Manager - Refreshing devices, cause the monitors screen to darken - (Keyboard
and HDD still active).
- VIDEO
Several of the O/S Systems dialog box buttons are illegible, further, some of the
text also suffer the same fate.
- AUDIO
Volume Control option not available. Message Box: There are no active mixer devices
available. You may install or activate mixer devices from control panel. (This was
attempted without success. Audio drivers are installed at this point).
- POST
During POST an error message is displayed, Resource conflict - Allocation error
static node # 00. (F1 & F2 options available).
- WINDOWS
On examination of Device Manager a cautionary-exclamation appears next to the following
device: Intel 828001AA Bus Master IDE Controller
NB. No other devices such as the Primary and Secondary IDE Controllers are listed.
- AUDIO/VIDEO
ACPI screen darkens when Media Player played Logoff, there is a distinct
interference in sound on opening.
- AUDIO
Accessing a *.WAV file on CD on several occasions caused the system to hang.
- AUDIO
System hung during audio stress testing, power-down and restart required.
- VIDEO/BIOS
Device Manager - Removing device(s) and refreshing hangs the system.
- CONTROL PANEL
Add New Hardware option hangs the system during detection phase.
- VIDEO
Device Manager - Whilst running Win 98 OSR1 Beta 2 version 4.10.2150.4 in ACPI mode
refreshing devices following examination causes the monitor to darken, HDD appears to
power-down. Keyboard key-presses briefly wakes the HDD but video fails to recover.

Failed to recover following 60+ hours video stress testing. The system hung, keyboard
inactive and required power-down and restart.
A similar occurrence happens whilst running Win 95 and Win 98 OSR1 Beta 2 version
4.10.2150.4 in APM mode, i.e. the monitor darkens for several seconds but recovers
full-screen video.
- BIOS
System hangs when settings are changed in BIOS (or not changed, in either case F10 is
invoked), 4 beeps sound, and a multi-coloured pixel screen appears. (This also occurs
under Win 95).

Phase one of installation, on restart the system hangs, 4 short beeps sound, (code 2C) and
a multi-coloured pixel screen appears. (This also occurs under Win 95).
- BIOS
During installation of Win 98 OSR1 Beta 2 version 4.10.2150.4 the system was required to
be powered-down and restarted (the system did not respond to keyboard or mouse commands).
- BIOS
Volume Control Option does not function whilst in BIOS Default (F9) mode (O/S setting:
Other).
- AUDIO
System not playing Compact Disc Audio (CDA) Tracks
- WINDOWS
Accessing a text file in either Notepad or Wordpad caused the system to hang. Similarly,
when accessing a *.WAV and TXT files on CD, the system also hung.
- WINDOWS
Opening Windows Explorer & My Computer\C:\ hung the system on a number of occasions.
- WINDOWS
Installation of External serial port modem driver hung the system.
- WINDOWS
A periodic electrical pulse occurs across the monitors screen

Application switching caused system to hang.

Attempts to access sharedC Drive caused system to hang.
- WINDOWS
Opening Start\Programs\Accessories\Communications program hung the system.
- AUDIO
Onboard volume very low.

No sound, or volume control option available.
- SP 4 installation
After installation of Service Pack 4 and restart, the following error message is
displayed: The procedure entry point bLocalCall could bot be located in the dynamic
link library SPOOLSS.DLL.
Comment: The problem is not reported on examination of the system, or in subsequent
installations.
- O/S installation
System hung during O/S installation prior to obtaining product key code.
Comment: Subsequent full installation completed without problems.
